Why Self-Govern.com?

We live in a time where people have come to believe that government has all the answers. If you are one of those people then this blog is probably not for you (although I welcome you to stay and read and maybe you’ll change your mind?). Let me break it to you: government causes far more harm than what it prevents. Frankly, in many cases government is the sole cause of the harm and therefore you remove government intervention and you remedy the harm. I created this blog so that I could look critically at the news and events of our day and present them with commentary from that perspective. Thomas Paine said it best, “That government is best which governs least.”

I believe in a non-interventionist foreign policy, free markets, sound money, and individual liberty. I’ve followed and been involved with politics for as long as I can remember. I grew up in and around small business and today I operate my own. I have experienced first hand the harm that the oppressive nature of government and government regulations can cause to a new, growing, or established business as well as the depth of inefficiencies that exist in the government controlled marketplace.

It has been said in the past that there is no “third way” in economics, i.e. socialism or laissez-faire. When it comes to economics I am in full agreement with that statement. In this country, however, that principle has been applied to politics/governance as well and I wholeheartedly disagree. The right-left paradigm is broken. It is not quite dead but it’s on life support. The third way in politics? Self-govern.com.

Our Logo

In our logo you will find three things. The first, a quote from Thomas Jefferson expressing his view of self-government. You will also find the Statue of David, a symbol of freedom and autonomy. Finally, in the background is that “tempestuous sea of liberty.”

For liberty,

Jared M. Grifoni, Esq.
